I'LL CRY

Let me introduce myself, I'm a farming girl
I don't paint my nails and I have natural curls
I can crack a whip cart hay bales
Round up cows and drive a truck to the sales

But that don't matter now you see
Cause money and farming sure don't seem to mix

So I'll walk with my horse with my dog by my side
I can talk to them they make me feel so alive
Go on and take my land and wreck my pride
And I'll cry, I'll cry

Why can't the burning sun, tell that bloody rain
To pick up its act, and start to show again
I call the weather a man, come and go as they please
When you start to get better they knock you down to your knees

I ask myself time and time again
Is it all my fault or the curse of the wind

So I'll walk with my horse with my dog by my side
I can talk to them they make me feel so alive
Go on and take my land and wreck my pride
And I'll cry, I'll cry

So I'll walk with my horse with my dog by my side
I can talk to them they make me feel so alive
Go on and take my land and wreck my pride
And I'll cry, I'll cry

So I'll walk with my horse with my dog by my side
I can talk to them they make me feel so alive
Go on and take my land and wreck my pride
And I'll cry, I'll cry, I'll Cry.

THE BUSHFIRE

Every year, there's a fear
The bush will burn and die
Firemans curse they dread the worse
Charcoaled faces shows the pain in their eyes

Red sky at night means farmers delight
But Today the sky has turned grey
47 degrees, a frightful breeze
This could be worse than Ash Wednesday

The bushfire came the bushfire went
You could say it was hell sent
Still no sign of the rain
Its blue for the sky and black for the ground
All that's left is what can be found
Is mother nature to blame?

The wildlife's gone, and so has the farms
Fences kept the cattle from escape
The horses perished, that were cherished
They had no chance to be saved

Homes destroyed, no warning deployed,
The pretty valley that once sheltered lives
Nowhere to run, like a loaded gun
Now forever hear the cries

The bushfire came the bushfire went
You could say it was hell sent
Still no sign of the rain
Its blue for the sky and black for the ground
All thats left is what can be found
Is mother nature to blame?

Could this be arson or could this be fate
When people's lives are lost
That's when many heart's break
But nothing takes you higher, than the bushfire

The bushfire came the bushfire went
You could say it was hell sent
Still no sign of the rain
Its blue for the sky and black for the ground
All that's left is what can be found
Is mother nature to blame?
Is mother nature to blame?

This will go down in history, the fire of the century
This will go down in history, the fire of the century
This will go down in history, the fire of the century
This will go down in history, the fire of the century

THE BULLOCKY

There was a man called the bullocky, and he drove a bullock team
It was the likes of my great grandfather working back in the 1920's
With a ginka and a yoke, he broke young steers in
With a team of 14 a stock whip, the bullocky, ploughed the scenery

And he cleared the land the trees and shrubs where the homes lie today
There was no such thing as a bulldozer, tipper trucks or cranes
He carted posts, cleared the tracks and made the railway
The Australian legacy of the bullocky and his bullock team

He ploughed paddocks for 50 years, so many miles on his feet
And those bullocks never let him down, they could climb a mountain so steep
He drove them far and wide, to the crack of his whip
In the mud the rain the wind and the dust, Never once did he loose grip

And he cleared the land the trees and shrubs where the cars drive today
There was no such thing as an excavator, loaders or grader blades
He crossed the rivers, dug the dams and made the fire breaks
The Australian legacy of the bullocky and his bullock team

And he cleared the land the trees and shrubs were the city lies today
He carted wool, hauled the wood, with 100 tonnes of weight
He worked the land carried the food, and aided every state
The Australian legacy of the bullocky and his bullock team

He carted posts, cleared the tracks and made the railway
He crossed the rivers, dug the dams and made the ffire breaks
He carted wool, hauled the wood, with 100 tonnes of weight
He helped develop of country with an industry so great
Its all thanks to the bullocky, and his bullock team
So thanks to the bullocky

LOU AND RAY

Lou and Ray, lived in the House they were born
Down Clarke's lane, together old bachelors
Wed drop by, when we were passing through
And they'd tell us how our visit was long overdue

Lou and Ray were brothers that we knew
Made our day when they made rabbit stew
My brothers and I, They would make such a fuss
It's been described, they were like grandpas' to us

They would talk about the old days, the depression and the war
They would laugh and sing at everything, and we were never bored
Now they're gone away, Seems like yesterday
We have fond memories of our old friends Lou and Ray

Lou and Ray had an orchard out the back
An old FJ, how we loved to sit in that
A run down shed, we would go out and scrounge
Listen to the radio on that old chase lounge

Lou and Ray, how they liked us kids,
We would play, outdoor cricket and kick to kick
Sip cups of tea, and deal cards when it rained
When it was time to leave, that's when we would complain

They would talk about the old days, the depression and the war
They would laugh and sing at everything, and we were never bored
Now they're gone away, seems like yesterday
We have fond memories of our old friends Lou and Ray

The younger Ray, he was the first to go
A digger, but his age didn't show
And lanky Lou, well he lived to 82
Didn't get to say goodbye but how we always think of you

They would talk about the old days, the depression and the war
They would laugh and sing at everything, and we were never bored
Now they're gone away, Seems like yesterday
We have fond memories of our old friends Lou and Ray
We have fond memories of our old friends Lou and Ray

THE TRANQUILITY

The tranquility has come over me and I feel like a bird in flight
The setting sun will soon be gone but I still feel the fire
You'd think that being along out here would make me feel lonely
But all I feel is free, and how's the serenity

The lorikeets sing me a cheep and horse neighs for its hay
The dog walks with me as I talk he will never go astray
I got all the friends I need it may sound a little strange
But how can you deny, this easy livin' way

I don't need a lot of things in life
A piece of land keeps me out of strife
A good workin' dog that keeps me company
A car that gets me from A to B
A telephone to call my family
A roof over my head, to be, as lucky as me

Kookaburras laugh at the new born calves it just makes me smile
Life like this beats money, sky scrapers and fast cars
I could have easily been led away by my naïve eyes
But something pulled me back somehow I realised

I don't need a lot of things in life
A piece of land keeps me out of strife
A good workin' dog that keeps me company
A car that gets me from A to B
A telephone to call my family
A roof over my head, to be, as lucky as me
Yeah you can be, as lucky, as me

MY MOTHER'S WORDS

(Lyrics by Libby Barter)

Work is hard to come by in a little country town
So I left to find my own retreat a place to settle down
But not a day goes by when I hear inside my head
The message that was given the words my mother said

Don't become a stranger to the one's you leave behind
Keep in touch to let us know that your doin' fine
All I ask is for a moment of your time
Don't become a stranger to the one's you leave behind

Time goes by without a trace as days turn into years
My regrets in life a very few through all the joy and tears
But someday I will return to the place where I was raised
With friends and family gathered round we'll talk of younger days

Don't become a stranger to the one's you leave behind
Keep in touch to let us know that your doin' fine
All I ask is for a moment of your time
Don't become a stranger to the one's you leave behind

But Until then we'll talk on the phone
I can't forget my mother's words since the day I left my home

Don't become a stranger to the one's you leave behind
Keep in touch to let us know that your doin' fine
All I ask is for a moment of your time
Don't become a stranger to the one's you leave behind
I said don't become a stranger to the one's you leave behind

YOU WILL FIND A BLOKE

Your 28, and you think your out of date
Its been five long lonely single years
And your startin' to think
Its easier to drink
Since all the men are taken or gone queer

Youll find a bloke I'm sure of that
He'll have a big white smile and a dusty hat
And He will think the world of you
You'll be made for him, He'll be made for you
I'll bet on the tab till I'm broke
I'm telling you that you will find a bloke

Joel was suffocating, Tim only wanted dating
Ian never bothered to call you back
Shane like too much beer, Aidan was really weird
Dave only wanted to get you in the sack

You'll find a bloke I'm sure of that
He'll have a big white smile and a dusty hat
And He will think the world of you
You'll be made for him, He'll be made for you
I'll bet on the tab till I'm broke
I'm telling you that you will find a bloke

Peter was too old, Dan was way too bold
Aaron loved his guns and shootin' pigs
Linton was a cheater, Mark was a wife beater
Gary worked away on the oil rigs

You'll find a bloke I'm sure of that
He'll have a big white smile and a dusty hat
And He will think the world of you
You'll be made for him, He'll be made for you
I'll bet on the tab till I'm broke
I'm telling you that you will find a bloke

There's plenty more farmer's in the country
Love's sure to happen, eventually
But don't sit around waiting, don't start anticipating
He'll come along unexpectedly

You'll find a bloke I'm sure of that
He'll have a big white smile and a dusty hat
And He will think the world of you
You'll be made for him, He'll be made for you
I'll bet on the tab till I'm broke
I'm telling you that you will find a bloke

JUST ADD WATER

Words by Vaughan Baker, Music by Bec Hance (Copyright 2009)

As I drive around the station, I see the land is at its driest time
When I settle on a value for the auction, I will keep this fact in mind
For the place is one big dust bowl and the breeders now have even gone to slaughter
With the soil deep and fertile its all there, just add water

Though it's hard now to see it, in a normal year the grass is past my knees
I try to picture these black flood plains with a see of grass rippling in the breeze
Where the black clay turns to red soil its bare today and set like bricks in mortar
It's choked with buffel or crowfoot in the winter, just add water

Just add water to the dam, and I'll drink it from the water tank
Add water to the crops and I'll pump it from the river bank
Add water to the life to the growth of this god forbidden land
The only cure for this tragedy is, just add water

This ploughed up cultivation was sown to wheat not long before John died
With the planting window closing he gambled all in June and planted dry
Though I've heard the drought is over not a drop fell on the Southern QLD border
The wheat may come up someday but for now, just add water
I didn't see it coming, don't think its hit me yet he's really gone
When the breeders went in hindsight he wasn't quite the same from that day on
But the part I can't accept is how he could leave behind his loving wife and daughter
I feel my eyes start burning again, Just add water

Just add water to the dam, and I'll drink it from the water tank
Add water to the crops and I'll pump it from the river bank
Add water to the life to the growth of this god forbidden land
The only cure for this tragedy is, just add water, just add water

HE DON'T GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAYS

He works hard from dawn to dusk everyday
Will lend a helping hand go out of his way
He doesn't have much to show for his name
But time spent with his family is his gain

People say he's a good man without the faithful book
He doesn't believe, but he lives the way bible should

He don't go to church on Sundays
He's the same man each day of the week
He may not praise to the lord above, for forgiveness and love
He got trust, faith and a family.

He's respected in his neighborhood
Known for his kindness laughter and good
It would break his heart if his kids done something wrong
Like break the law or get caught up in drugs

People say he will go to hell if he loves no god
But He lives for each day, through the kindness of his heart

He don't go to church on Sundays
He's the same man each day of the week
He may not praise to the lord above, for forgiveness and love
He's got trust, faith and a family.

War is religion, religion is war
That's why he's like he is
He's got a good life, a great wife
A worthy bunch of kids

He don't go to church on Sundays
He's the same man each day of the week
He may not praise to the lord above, for forgiveness and love
He's got trust, faith and a family.
Yeah he's got trust, faith and a family.

I FALL

You've come round to the farm again
You ask where my father is I show you right in
G'day Bec is your Dad your round is all you have to say
I'm speechless, I dream about the day

You only have to say you love me once and I'll believe it
Even if you do change your mind
Your so dark and handsome I keep on wishing and hoping
Some day you might make me your wife

I fall I fall I fall in love with you
Like a bird shot from the sky
Like the waterfall in mid-July
Like a politician in denial I fall

It's not like I know you just an acquaintance
You talk about the hay and how its gonna fair
All I do is sit right there and stare

You might like me too and your waiting for the right time
Starting off as friends will be just fine

I fall I fall I fall in love with you
Like a bird shot from the sky
Like the waterfall in mid-July
Like a politician in denial I fall

Maybe I've watched too many movies of romance
Time will tell if I should take the chance

You only have to say you love me once and I'll believe it
Even if you do change your mind
Your so dark and handsome I keep on wishing and hoping
Some day you might make me your wife

I fall I fall I fall in love with you
Like a bird shot from the sky
Like the waterfall in mid-July
Like a politician in denial I fall
I fall in love with you

JACK THE DOG
(Lyrics by Libby Barter)

Jack the dog has gone again he's wandered into town
Where to go and look for him and where can he be found
He could be at the football game like he was before
Or scabbing fish and chips at the local general store

One day he had a bath and put flea drops on his back
He gave a shake slipped away and bolted down the track
He's little legs run faster the more that we could Call
He looked and turned as if to say I'm "disgusted with you all"

Oh JACK where are you at
What's so tempting to sneak off down the track
You'll get run over by a car or hit by a Mack truck
Jack the dog come home at once or you'll run out of luck

In summer time he vanished it was coming onto dark
The Christmas carols could be heard from the park
And sure enough there he was joining in the Fun
Singing hark the herald angels sing howling out his lungs

One day he disappeared and was gone for about a day
The police showed up at the door with looks of dismay
Escorted to the divvy ban, they opened up the back
And there with his tail wagging was notorious little jack

Oh JACK where are you at
when you come home you'll get a big whack
You'll get drowned by a kangaroo or bitten by a snake
Jack the dog come home at once its getting very late

He was a loving home with a yard to run and play
No one really know why he always runs away
But all the locals know him so he's certain to be found
This small Jack Russell cross is a legend in his town

Oh JACK where are you at
What's so tempting to sneak off down the track
You'll get run over by a car or hit by a mack truck
Jack the dog come home at once or you'll run out of luck

Oh JACK where are you at
when you come home you'll get a big whack
You'll get drowned by a kangaroo or bitten by a snake
Jack the dog come home at once its getting very late
Jack the dog come home at once its getting very late

A FISHING SONG

It has to be a sunny calm day, to take your rod and fish away
You thread your hook then cast the rod, to catch a whiting trout or cod
The bait you use is easy to get, worms pippies or yabbies so wet
They're found under logs of in the paddock and try the dams for the yabby

I love fishing, I love the sea, Just to smell that salt water,
Calms me down when the life's bugging me
I love fishing, I love the creek, when the Murray's running
The cod start comin', and I'm feeling free

There's nothing like that first tug when you see your rod coming up
Then wait till the fish comes above the water, then net it up and say you caught it
Fillet off the flesh, throw out the rest, To put in the frypan to cook at its best
Eat it and enjoy your meal, for a good day of fishing feel

I love fishing I love the beach, sitting back on me chair
Drinking cold ice cans, catchin' nothin' but weed
I love fishing I love the river, got my waiters on I'm singing a song
I never want to give up
The weekends gone astray, the rods have been put away
If I had it my way, I'd go fishing everyday

I love fishing I love the lake, you don't understand
I do the right thing with the fish that I take
I love fishing I love me boat its 15 foot, like the fish I took
But it was 20 foot long!
I love fishing, I love fishing, I love fishing, I love fishing!
